Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Johnel L. Simmons of Haddock, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm at County Line Baptist Church 1012 Ga - 49 Haddock, Georgia. Remains will lie in state at the church at 1:00 pm until the service hour. The interment will follow at Sons of Wisdom & Daughters of Light Society Cemetery.

Deacon Simmons was a member of Torrance Chapel Baptist Church for fifty plus years. He served as a deacon and was also a member of The Sons of Wisdom & Daughters of Light Society. It was on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 that Deacon Simmons was called home from labor to reward.

He leaves fond memories cherished by his devoted wife of fifty seven years, Mrs. Carrie Simmons, daughters, Lelia Broadus, Vickie (Barry) May, and  one son, John Wayne Simmons all of Milledgeville, Georgia, one brother, Henry Lee Simmons of Milledgeville, Georgia , brother in law, Deacon Joe (Mary) Hill of Haddock, Georgia, sister in law, Helen (Larry) Tuft of Gray, Georgia, grandchildren, Angel (Calvin) Tucker, Tina (Kasey) Harris, Priscilla (TeMarcus) Cheely, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
