Liggins
Dec 27, 1968 — Aug 17, 2026
Milledgeville
Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Kevin Liggins, 57 of Milledgeville, Georgia, will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, 11:30 a.m. at Peoples Funeral Home in the Augustus Austin Chapel, 950 N. Clark Street, Milledgeville, GA. Pastor Rechard Larkin will officiate. The interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA.
Kevin Eugene Liggins was born on December 27, 1968, to the late Freddie Liggins and the late Beautie Balkcom Liggins. He was named after his late uncle Melvin Eugene Balkcom. From an early age, Kevin displayed an extraordinary intellect and a natural gift for mathematics. He was truly a brainiac from day one, and those who knew him often admired his sharp mind and quick wit. He was the protector of his baby sister Renae.
Kevin was affectionately known as "Uncle Nunkie" by his nieces and nephews. He was a proud1987 graduate of Baldwin High School. Following graduation, Kevin answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps from May 1987 until September 1991. During his military career, he completed several deployments with honor and distinction. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines, he continued his service by joining the National Guard and served from March 2003 until July 2004.
Kevin was employed by Forstman and Vought, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment. Outside of work, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Whether casting a line from his boat, tending to his garden, or firing up the grill for family and friends, Kevin found joy in the things he loved most. Fishing was his passion, gardening was a skill lovingly passed down from his mother, "BB," and anyone fortunate enough to taste his cooking would agree that he was the best grill master around. He had a love for Ford Mustangs.
Above all, Kevin's greatest love was his daughter, his one and only princess, Makayla.
Kevin's earthly journey came to a close on Monday, August 17, 2026. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, wisdom, laughter, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his beloved daughter, Makayla Liggins; Devoted sister, Katrina-Renae (Dexter) Veal; sisters, Vicki Horne, Anita Williams, cousin-sister Brandi (Mario) Sanford Roberson, and his cousin-brother, Jerel (Uketa) Adams; Companion: Latonya Yarbourgh Aunts/Uncles: Inez Balkcom, Mona Balkcom, Mary Hall, Ida Betty Lee, Louise Liggins, Susie Mason, Theodore Balkcom, Milton Douglas and Curtis(Christeen) Liggins; Nieces & Nephews: Dexter Veal Jr, Detavius Veal, Dylan Veal, Ice Horne, Kami Horne, Lanndria Horne and April Horne; a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Kevin will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
